Introduction

The Stables Holiday Cottage is a newly constructed, single storey, self catering building comprising porch, open plan lounge / kitchen, bathroom and bedroom all on the same level. The Cottage is accessed via a tarmac drive and parking area.

 

Pre-Arrival
 
• Please contact us with any specific accessibility questions you may have to avoid any disappointment on arrival. We will try to meet any reasonable needs that you may have.
• We believe that for their safety, the accomodation is only suitable for guests with mobility / visual impairment if they are accompanied. 
• The nearest bus stop is a half mile away. Chester rail station is some 2 miles away. Guests arriving by either bus or train into Chester are advised to take a taxi from the bus / train station - cost circa £5-6. (as at July 2007)

 

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
 
• Upon arrival, if you call at the house (Holly Bank Farm) and we are in, we will gladly help you unload luggage into the cottage. Alternatively, telephone us before you arrive to be sure that we will be in / available.

 

Entrance


• The entrance to the cottage is immediately off the tarmac driveway just some 10 metres from the car park area. The ground is completely level. The entrance is through a porch door with a small 25mm step. The door width is 850mm into the 2 metre square porch. The lounge / kitchen is then accessed through a 850mm wide door without step. 

 

 

 

Outside
 
• Outdoor areas off the cottage comprise the drive and parking area as described earlier, a patio area with a surface of paving flags and sets, all being level, there is a pebbled garden area with gazebo and potted plants that is not readily accessible with wheelchairs or pedestrians unsteady on their feet. However, it is reasonably level and the pebbles are very different in colour to the adjacent black tarmac driveway.

 

Bedroom
 
• The one bedroom has an entrance door 760mm wide and tiled floor. The double bed has good pedestrian access all around. The light switch is adjacent to the door at a height of 1100mm. All power sockets are a minimum of 430mm above floor level.

 

Bathroom

 

• The bathroom is accessed off the kitchen through a level doorway 760mm wide. It has under-floor heated black floor tiles and white wall tiles. There is a white bath with shower over and a folding shower screen. There is a readily accessible WC at the end of the bath. There is a wash basin integrated into white fitted furniture along one complete wall. There is a shaver socket at a height of 1100mm next to the wash basin. The light switch is on the door frame outside the bathroom at a height of 1100mm. 

 

Kitchen
 
• The Kitchen is integrated with the lounge. It is a white, country style kitchen with oak effect laminate top and a white sink. There is a separate electric hob and oven with extractor hood over. No special accessibility features have been built into the conventional kitchen / kitchen layout. The following items are located on the kitchen worktops:
• Kettle
• Toaster
• Microwave
• The sink tap is white monobloc with a single lever actuator for both flow and temperature.
• Other equipment under-unit mounted is a dishwasher and washing machine, both with conventional layout and controls.
• The Fridge/Freezer is floor free-standing at the end of the kitchen units. It is a 50/50 split; fridge in upper half and freezer in lower half
• Lighting is halogen spots in the ceiling supplemented by under wall cupboard strip lights. The extractor hood also includes lights. All 3 elements of lighting are switched separately.
